Elucidator

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

This policy explains how the iOS app Elucidator handles data.

1. On-Device Processing

Elucidator analyzes camera images with an AI model on your device and describes the scene in text or speech. It uses the on-device model provided through Apple’s Foundation Models framework. Unless you enable external integrations, the app does not send images, your instructions (prompts), or analysis results outside your device. This content is not provided to advertising SDKs.

On-device processing refers to image analysis. Advertising, purchases, contact forms, and system-managed downloads or updates of models and related resources may require an internet connection.

External integrations (GET API and curl notifications) are off by default. When enabled, they share analysis results, images, prompts, timestamps, and device status over your local network or send them to an endpoint you specify, depending on your settings. You can stop sharing or sending by turning these features off. Please check with the recipient’s administrator about how received data is used, retained, and deleted.

2. Camera and Speech Output

The app uses the camera to display and analyze images. You can change camera permission in iOS Settings. Analysis results are read aloud using iOS text-to-speech features. The app does not record ambient audio through the microphone for this feature.

3. Analysis History

To display recent analysis history, the app temporarily keeps result text, a reduced-size copy of the analyzed image, the capture time, and the prompt used on your device. History is limited to recent entries and is not saved for restoration after the app restarts. The app does not save history images to your photo library.

4. Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores camera, display, language, and speech settings; prompts and prompt history; usage counts; reward expiration times; and similar information on your device. This data is used to restore settings, reuse prompts, and manage usage limits and feature access. Stored prompts are handled separately from the analysis history described in Section 3. Commands for curl notifications may contain authentication information and are stored in the Keychain on your device.

Prompts and camera images may contain personal information that you enter or capture.

5. Purchases

The app uses Apple StoreKit for in-app purchases and purchase restoration. Apple processes purchase-related data under its privacy policy. Elucidator checks verified purchase status to determine access to purchased features and ad removal.

6. Advertising, Consent, and Tracking

The app uses Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform. Google may collect or process identifiers such as IDFA, device and app information, ad display and interaction data, IP addresses and approximate location inferred from them, diagnostics, performance data, and related information for advertising, consent management, fraud prevention, analytics, and related purposes.

Where required, the app presents Google’s consent forms or privacy options. You can change applicable consent settings in the app. Advertising-related data is handled under Google’s policies and your choices.

The app requests tracking permission through iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) for ad personalization and measurement. Google Mobile Ads SDK uses the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you grant permission. The app does not use IDFA without that permission. You can change tracking permission in iOS Settings. Ads may still be displayed if you do not allow tracking, depending on your consent choices, device settings, and other applicable conditions.

7. Other Data Practices

The app does not require account registration and does not access device location services, contacts, calendars, or health data. Information you send when contacting us is handled as described in Section 12.

Data handling by operating system features, such as iOS diagnostic data sharing, is governed by your device settings and Apple’s policies.

8. Retention and Deletion

You can clear analysis history in the app. Older entries are removed when the history limit is reached, and history is not restored after the app restarts. You can delete settings and prompts by deleting the app. You can delete commands for curl notifications stored in the Keychain by resetting settings. Resetting settings does not delete all stored prompts and prompt history.

Depending on your device settings, stored app data may be included in iCloud or other backups. This is not a cloud-sync feature provided by Elucidator. You can manage and delete backups through the relevant service’s settings. Advertising and purchase providers retain data under their own policies.

9. Children

The app is not directed to children. Do not use the app without parental consent where that consent is required for processing advertising or purchase data.

10. Third-Party Policies

11. Changes

We may update this policy when the app, services we use, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date identifies when each version of this policy takes effect.
